Story Line:
A challenge between a husband and wife to make science sexy leads to a fantasy story of a nymph finding her true power.
Everyone has neglected Xylem, a nymph hidden beneath the Great Oak tree in a root cave. On the day of the Winter Solstice Ball, she runs away into the Fauna Forest, where she meets a dryad. Through the dryad, she learns of her sister’s devious plans to destroy the forest and take Xylem’s power, passing it off as her own. With the dryad’s help, Xylem learns about her power and how to embrace who she truly is.
I reach for the doorknob, excited to finally be home from work. It’s been a rough day preparing my tenth-grade class for their upcoming finals. The couch is the only thing currently on my mind, that and having my wife April as my pillow. Walking into my house, I know my plans are already screwed. I can hear the television from the foyer as I open the door.
I glance at the pictures on the wall highlighting my life with April as I walk down the hallway. She was such a fun-loving, spunky babe in college and caught my attention immediately. I’m not surprised she married me after I begged and pleaded for her to make an honest man out of me, kinky lynx. I pause at my favorite picture of us, the day of our wedding, in the woods with me pressing her against the tree. God, that was hot. The poor photographer was probably embarrassed, but that’s their job.
